 About Us

Overview:
The organization was founded in the summer of 2003 with the goal of raising awareness amongst Young Somali professionals in the Diaspora and bringing them together to discuss issues pertaining to professional and community development. The founding members were compelled to launch this organization as result of noticing a visible gap in education, mentoring and socio-economic status between generations. A listserv was launched in August 2004. Through this listserv YSPNA received overwhelming support and membership from Young professionals across the US and Canada. Subsequently a bylaws and strategic planning committee were formed to solidify the future of YSPNA. Committee members met in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a 2-day retreat in the summer of 2005 to vote and approve the bylaws and strategic plan.
